SCGA CHAMPIONSHIP REGISTRATION INFORMATION

 

18TH SCGA MATCH PLAY CHAMPIONSHIPS

All participants must have: 1) an active SCGA Membership and 2) a Golf Genius profile to register for an event.

 

MEN’S OPEN DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP FORMAT:

  • Single elimination match play. 
  • 32 players, comprised of exempt players and qualifiers, will compete in the championship.
  • After the 32-player field is established, players will be seeded based upon a combination of two ranking systems: (1) SCGA Player of the Year Points List, and (2) World Amateur Golf Rankings.

 

SENIOR MEN’S DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP FORMAT:

  • Single elimination match play. 
  • 32 players, comprised of exempt players and qualifiers, will compete in the championship.
  • After the 32-player field is established, players will be seeded based upon a combination of two ranking systems: (1) SCGA Senior Player of the Year Points List, and (2) World Amateur Golf Rankings.

 

Monday, August 3: Round of 32

Tuesday, August 4: Round of 16 & Quarterfinals

Wednesday, August 5: Semifinals & Final

 

All non-exempt players will participate in an 18-hole, stroke-play qualifying round.

Wednesday, July 29: Sterling Hills GC, Camarillo

Thursday, July 30:  Skylinks GC, Long Beach

Thursday, July 30:  Temecula Creek GC (Oaks/Creek), Temecula

 

MEN’S OPEN DIVISION ELIGIBILITY: This championship is open to amateurs who are members of a current SCGA member club with a Handicap Index of 5.4 or less at the time of registration.

 

SENIOR MEN’S DIVISION ELIGIBILITY: This championship is open to amateurs who are members of a current SCGA member club with a Handicap Index of 9.4 or less at the time of registration. Entrants must have reached their 55th birthday by August 3, 2026.

 

MEN’S OPEN DIVISION EXEMPTIONS: A maximum of 24 exemptions will be granted from the exemption list by clicking here. A minimum of eight (8) spots will be available in the championship through qualifying. All exempt players must still meet eligibility requirements and register online for the championship before the entry closing date.

ENTRIES OPEN: Wednesday, January 7, 2026

 

ENTRY DEADLINE: Sunday, July 19, 2026

 

CHAMPIONSHIP INFORMATION & PAIRINGS: Complete tournament details, including information about practice rounds, pairings, starting times, and yardages, will be emailed and posted on scga.org after the entry deadline.

TRANSPORTATION: Golf carts are optional at the player’s expense. There will be a maximum of two carts per group and two bags per cart. Players wishing to ride will be expected to share a cart with another player.  Drivers must be at least 16 years of age (or older if club policy dictates).

 

EXEMPT PLAYER ENTRY FEE: $225

 

QUALIFIER ENTRY FEE: $150 (individuals who qualify will be charged an additional $75 championship fee)

 

LATE ENTRIES: The SCGA accepts late entries, assuming space is still available at the given event. Late entries will be subject to an additional $20 fee and can only be processed over the phone or through email.  

 

REFUND POLICY: Requests for refunds before the entry closing date will be honored less a $20 administrative fee. Requests received after the entry closing date and 48 hours before the event will be honored less 50% of the entry fee. No refunds will be honored within 48 hours of the event.
